Aberdeen University is set to change its curriculum in a bid to improve the fortunes of graduate job hunters.
The institution has announced students will have closer links with local employers through more work experience placements and voluntary roles, reports news.bbc.co.uk.
Iain McMillan, director of CBI Scotland, claimed the new approach is a welcome change as firms often require students with work experience.
He told the news provider: "Employers are looking for more than just a degree. Experience of the real world in placements is vital.
"They want degrees themselves to be wider, to offer more knowledge without the narrow confines of the subject matter."
The new approach is the result of three years of consultation between staff, students and politicians.
Students will also be offered a wider choice of courses and learning methods will also be more flexible.
