Established in 1872, Aberystwyth was the first university institution in Wales. Today the University has about 8,500 degree students who take a wide range of subjects such as International Politics, agriculture, geography, Welsh language and history, art, law and mathematics. The University is situated on the coast in central Wales, and the campus enjoys spectacular views over the sea. The town itself, although is small, is set in a lovely position and is known for its thriving local music scene.
Accommodation is guaranteed for all first-years. Weekly rent starts from £64.75 a week.
The university has four libraries which are all very well-equipped. The main library has seating for over 1,700 students and the National Library of Wales is also situated nearby which students are allowed to use. The University also has an arts centre which is recognised as a national centre for arts development.
Central sports centre provides a range of on campus services including a swimming pool, team sports, fitness centre and sauna. As the University is located by the coast it offers a superb location for outdoor sports, mountain biking and water sports.
There are direct road and rail links with all the major urban areas of Wales and England.
On campus, The Arts Centre attracts international talent in music, theatre and comedy, which provides a great social scene. There are plenty of societies in which you can join too. The town centre which is a short walk from the campus has a good range of pubs, clubs, cafes and restaurants including Pier Pressure, Wetherspoons and Downies.
The University's wooded hillside campus looks out over the resort of Aberystwyth to the sea. Aberystwyth offers high teaching quality and great preparation for graduates going into their chosen career.
