Goldsmiths University was originally created as part of Goldsmiths Technical and Recreative Institute in 1891 where it specialised in creative, cultural and cognitive subjects, but now ranges from subjects that cover the arts, social sciences, humanities and computing. The college is based on a single site in New Cross, south-east London, and offers excellent links to the centre of London.
Accommodation is given to full-time first years that live outside of London. Prices range from £85 to £250 a week.
The Rutherford Building houses the library which has over 250,000 books spread across three floors. The building is also home to IT services, media services and The Language Resources Centre.
There is a new state-of-the-art gym and fitness centre as well as tennis courts, netball courts and a sports ground in Sidcup.
Great transport links. Only 15 minutes away from central London and there is a good bus service.
The Students' Union which is award winning, offers two bars: The Green Room and The Stretch. Locally, there are some good clubs and pubs and then there is central London which can offer you pretty much anything.
On campus a high proportion are mature and a quarter come from outside the UK.
