Founded in 1945, The University of Aberdeen is Scotland's third oldest and the fifth oldest in the UK. It has over 13,000 students and over 3000 staff and is well known for teaching and research in medicine, the humanities and sciences. Accommodation is guaranteed for all first year students, the university has invested £20 million in new accommodation. Prices range from £60 to £90 for self catering accommodation and from £103 to £130 for catered halls.
The library is at the heart of the facilities at this university with its state of the art facilities. There is also a £23 million sports centre.

The infrastructure is excellent, with an airport, and a railway station connecting you to London, Edinburgh and Glasgow. Road links around Aberdeen are also excellent with an easy bus ride from the university to town.
In the centre of town there is plenty of watering holes including the Melting Pot hidden in the corner of Golden Square, just behind union street, the Crown and Anchor where drinking is not a light weight affair, its life. The Beans on Rose Street is excellent for food and good priced beer and wine. The Students' Union! situated at the bottom of Little John Street, makes the most of the history of the University. It offers all the standard things a union should, pub quizzes, DJs and endless entertainment. The Student Union is a good place to start your night out
The University has a beautiful central campus where ancient buildings sit side by side with modern, newly refurbished, laboratories, first-class computing facilities and the latest library technology. The University promotes a multi-national, multi-faith community.
