The University of Bolton has approximately 11,000 students and is growing rapidly since achieving university status a few years ago. It is also enjoying a multimillion-pound development programme which will be used to improve the university. Bolton itself is not very big; however there is a rich cultural heritage and plenty of things to do.
First-years are usually accommodated in halls. Self-catering accommodation costs £60 a week.
The library is open late and there is a 24-hour access to computing facilities. There is also the newly opened £2.5 million Social Learning Zone which offers a relaxed library style environment which has a cafe and wireless internet access.
Facilities include a fitness suite with weights, cardio and resistance training; sport courts and a climbing wall. There is a full and varied timetable of classes and sessions, offering something for everyone.
Bolton station is half a mile away and the motorway network is on the doorstep.
Bolton is a very student orientated town and has a wide variety of clubs and bars. The Loft, the newly built student bar offers students a place to catch up over a drink. Cheap student nights are always available and if you are after a bigger night, Manchester or Liverpool is only a train journey away.
