Employment Restrictions for International Students

Restrictions on employmentInternational students in the UK, with a work restriction stamp in their passport stating 'no recourse to public funds. Work must be authorised,’ do not need to obtain a work permit. They are automatically allowed to:

  • Work during term-time for no more than 20 hours on any week
  • Work during official academic vacation periods with no time restrictions
  • Undertake a sandwich course placement, which is included in your course and approved by your institution
  • Undertake an internship up to 3 months which is paid and completed before term starts again

International students with a prohibition on employment stamp in their passport cannot work under any condition; but it can be possible to have this stamp changed.
