Vocational courses and qualifications offer more practical learning which relates more to specific job roles or are designed for a particular sector, therefore you will only study and gain skills in a specific area unlike other courses.

Vocational courses are perfect for those students who already have a clear idea of what they would like to in the future so it’s a great route to kick start your career. It’s great if you want to be allowed to learn in a way that suits you best.

Vocational courses may also involve hands-on-work experience which will enhance your practical skills and knowledge. Vocational qualifications are made up of units, so you can study at a pace that suits you best. There’s is also the advantage of no end of year exams, Students are assessed based on the practical tasks and written assignments they complete during the course.

  • Higher National Diploma (HND)

Vocational qualifications are considered as an equivalent to academic courses by universities and other institutions as well as being highly valued and recognised by employers.

  • Edexcel
  • OCR

They can serve a range of different purposes in different sectors and levels and students who gain a vocational qualification can either choose to go onto employment or further study.
