Cost & Funding

If you are planning on staying in education but are worried about money, then you may be eligible for support. Most sixth form and colleges do not charge you to attend unless you are an international student. Cost may vary for international students so it’s advised to find out how much the tuition fees cost at the sixth form/ colleges you intend on studying at. In terms of costs, the only charges you will have to worry about are cost such as:

Travel- If you live far from your sixth form or college then you will have to pay for your bus or train costs.

Textbooks- Some courses require you to buy specialist textbooks.

Field trips- For some courses you may find yourself going on day trips to places that will help you with your studies such as museums. For language subjects you may also find yourself going abroad which will cost a bit more than a day trip.

In terms of funding, there is plenty of support available which will help you during your studies including:

EMA

  • Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA)
  • Discretionary Support Funds
  • Help with transport cost to college or sixth form
