So you have just finished your GCSE’S and wondering what’s next? You may find that money seems to be a problem therefore getting a job may be the perfect opportunity to earn an income. The decision to start work after leaving school is definitely a bonus as you will be earning money whereas some of your friends may be accruing student debts.

There are plenty of job opportunities for school leavers and if you do your research and carefully look at what jobs are on offer you may be able to grab yourself a good job. School leavers have plenty of job options such as-

  • Full time work
  • Part time work
  • Work experience
  • Volunteer work
  • Holiday jobs
  • Apprenticeships

Learning and education doesn’t have to stop when you get a job, if you pick the right job and company to work for you may find yourself being offered training which can lead to a nationally recognised qualification.

Apprenticeships could also be a good way for you to gain some training whilst still working. Apprenticeships are available in many different sectors and they are becoming increasingly popular. The advantage of an apprenticeship is that you earn money whilst you learn and study for qualifications.

When searching for a job, some careful preparation is needed and it’s important that you have prepared a CV which will show off your skills and capabilities.

  • Recruitment Agencies
  • Newspapers
  • Websites
  • Social Networks- i.e. twitter & facebook.

Tip- When job hunting it’s important to be organised so make sure you keep track of your progress and remember which companies you have approached and what responses you have received.
