Clearing

Clearing available to all students who have not managed to secure a place at a university or college. It begins in August around results week and each years helps over330, 000 student to successfully find a suitable degree course.

Am I Eligible For Clearing?
Students are eligible for Clearing if they have withdrawn their original UCAS application, if they hold no offers or if their offers have been confirmed but they have not received their required grades. You are also eligible if you have applied after June 30th to attend a university or college.

When Does Clearing Start?
Clearing starts in mid August during results week and continues until the start of the new academic year in late September. If you have not received the right grades or you are still considering whether to go to the university this could be your final opportunity. However, places do go extremely fast so be sure to get your skates on.

Course Vacancies
As with the application process UCAS works hand in hand with universities and colleges throughout the UK during results week. As students’ exam results are published each university informs UCAS which conditional places have been secured and which courses are now available. A list of all the course vacancies available through clearing is then published in national newspapers and on the UCAS site from mid-August until late-September.
