Your social life at university plays a huge part in your overall experience. Therefore, it is important that the university or college cater on-campus for the social needs of their students.
The Students Union
The Students union will play a huge part in your first year at university. Not only does the Union provide cheap beer at the Union Bar, there should also be a wide variety of entertainment provided throughout the year. Dependent on the size of your university, most unions will provide a club night for students. There should also be a main common room area where students can catch up, have a coffee and chill out,
Entertainment
The larger university union halls are now a major part of any music tour for major acts from The Killers to Snow Patrol. National comedy tours also play at many of the major universities throughout the UK. So, you may get the chance to see some of the UK’s top end comediennes.
Halls of ResidenceLiving on a budget means that students quite often make their own entertainment. Halls parties are a regular occurrence at university and can be seen as one of the advantages to living on-campus within your first year at university. Do be aware that all college and universities do have the right to withhold you degree for any unruly behaviour so party responsibly – if that’s possible!
On-campus Events
Dependent on how big your university is, there is usually some event happening on campus. Whether this is as part of the social calendar or a company who wants to promote to the student market. If this fails, there will always be some sporting match happening, a creative exhibition or even a student theatre production for all you culture vultures.
